Having had extensive experience of being a volunteer teacher himself, Thailand Volunteers Founder Peter Nield, has firsthand knowledge of the excitement and rewards of working in Thailand. During his travels around the country, Peter became aware of a large amount of worthwhile projects in Thailand that would benefit from the support of a volunteer network that provided not only manpower but financial assistance. Peter started Thailand Volunteers in order to create a company that would provide a long term commitment to projects in Thailand that went beyond simply placing volunteers.

My Story
I first arrived in Thailand as a volunteer several years ago, I was fortunate enough to experience the real Thailand of the beaten track and volunteer in a rural community in suphan-buri province . I was surrounded by tropical countryside and placed with a wonderful family who welcomed me into their lives, home, community and their family and we still remain very close today. Being a volunteer simply changed my life and since then I continued teaching children how to speak English and helping to prepare Thai people for their future. Now my time is mainly spent visiting our projects around Thailand and providing vital support such as teaching materials, lesson plans, training, curriculam ideas and travel advice to our volunteers aswell as placing new volunteers in our projects and contacting other rural developing schools who would benefit from our organisation.
